WHAT IS A KIDNEY STONE?

Kidney stone is the excess deposit of minerals and salts that are present in kidney.

SYMPTOMS OF HAVING A KIDNEY STONE

  • Severe pain in back and side
  • Pain in urination
  • Pink, Red or brown Urine
  • Sudden vomiting
  • Urinating more often than before
  • Fever and chills

RISK FACTORS FOR HAVING A KIDNEY STONE

  1. FAMILY OR PERSONAL HISTORY

    If you have any kidney stone then it is most likely to be one more or if any family member has any, then there is a risk of having to another member.

  2. DEHYDRATION

    Not drinking enough water increases the chances of having a kidney stone.

  3. CERTAIN DIET

    Eating protein, salt and sugar may increase the risk of kidney stone as the deposit of these minerals are the main cause of kidney stone.

  4. BEING OBESE

    Being obese is another reason for having kidney stone. As the weight increases more deposit of proteins will get collecting in our body which increases the causes of kidney stone.

  5. DIGESTIVE DISEASE

    Any other digestive disease is also a reason for the kidney stone. If the digestion is improper then the deposit will start collecting which implies to have a kidney stone.

  6. OTHER MEDICAL CONDITIONS

    Any urine infection is also a cause of kidney stone because if the waste of body will not be excreted then it will cause collection of waste in body which will after all become a reason of kidney stone.

TYPES OF KIDNEY STONE

  1. CALCIUM STONE

    These stones are generally made up of calcium phosphate. These stones can be growing up from edible things like some fruits, chocolates, nuts, etc. or high doses of vitamin D.

  2. STRUVITE STONE

    These stones are response of any infection, these stones are very dangerous and grows very large in size quickly.

  3. URIC ACID STONE

    These stones are created to people who don’t drink too much fluid or excrete too much, those who are on high protein diet.

  4. CYSTINE STONE

    This caused by hereditary disorder that causes the excretion of amino acids.
